Sonagas
Stock performance
History
Sonagas (Sociedad Nacional de Gas de Guinea Ecuatorial) was created in 2005 as the national gas company, to manage the state's interests in natural gas as Equatorial Guinea developed its liquefaction and gas-processing industry on Bioko Island.
Business model
Sonagas holds the state's stakes in gas projects, including a 25% share in EG LNG, and is a partner in the country's 'Gas Mega Hub' strategy of processing gas from multiple offshore fields at Punta Europa.
Market position
Sonagas is Equatorial Guinea's national gas company, working alongside the national oil company and international operators.
Country impact
With oil production declining, gas has become increasingly important to Equatorial Guinea's export earnings, making Sonagas a key player in the country's efforts to extend the life of its hydrocarbon economy.
