Stock performance
History
Simonds Farsons Cisk traces its origins to the brewery established by local businessman Lewis Farrugia in 1928, which merged with a British brewer's Malta operations and in 1948 combined with the Cisk brewery. Its Cisk lager became Malta's best-known beer, and in 1952 it launched Kinnie, a bittersweet orange soft drink unique to the islands.
Business model
Farsons brews beer (Cisk and others), makes soft drinks including Kinnie, bottles international brands under license, imports and distributes food and beverages, and runs franchised restaurants in Malta.
Market position
Farsons is Malta's leading brewer and beverage company and one of the largest companies listed on the Malta Stock Exchange.
Country impact
Cisk and Kinnie are national icons, and Farsons is one of Malta's largest manufacturers, with sales closely tied to tourist arrivals and summer consumption.
