History
Ooredoo Palestine launched in the West Bank in 2009 as Wataniya Mobile, backed by Qatar's telecom group and the Palestine Investment Fund, becoming the second Palestinian mobile operator. It could only begin operating in Gaza in 2017, after long delays in obtaining Israeli approval for equipment.
Business model
Ooredoo Palestine sells mobile voice and data services and is listed on the Palestine Exchange.
Market position
Ooredoo Palestine is the second-largest Palestinian mobile operator, behind Paltel's Jawwal.
Country impact
Its entry broke Jawwal's mobile monopoly and lowered prices, but like other Palestinian operators it has been limited by restrictions on frequencies and network technology.
