Letshego Holdings
Stock performance
History
Letshego started in Botswana in 1998 as a microlender providing payroll-deducted loans to public-sector employees. It expanded across Africa through acquisitions and new licenses, and now operates in about ten countries in southern, eastern, and western Africa, including several with full banking licenses.
Business model
Letshego provides consumer loans, often repaid directly from salaries, along with deposits, savings, and loans to micro and small businesses, increasingly through digital channels.
Market position
Letshego is one of Africa's leading inclusive-finance groups and one of the largest companies listed on the Botswana Stock Exchange.
Country impact
Letshego is one of the few Botswana-headquartered companies with a significant pan-African presence, and its lending gives many lower-income households access to credit.
