Krka was founded as a pharmaceutical manufacturer in what was then socialist Yugoslavia and survived the country's breakup and Slovenia's transition to independence and a market economy, growing into one of the largest generic-drug manufacturers in Central and Eastern Europe, with exports reaching more than seventy countries.
