Kone began as a small Finnish engineering workshop and grew, under continued Herlin-family ownership and leadership across generations, into one of the world's largest elevator and escalator manufacturers, expanding internationally from the 1960s onward through acquisitions of European and American elevator businesses that built its current global manufacturing and service footprint.
