History

Innscor started in 1987 with a single fast-food outlet and expanded into a chain of quick-service restaurants such as Chicken Inn and Pizza Inn, before diversifying into food manufacturing. In 2015 it spun off its fast-food business as Simbisa Brands to concentrate on manufacturing.

Business model

Innscor manufactures and distributes everyday consumer goods, including bread (Bakers Inn), flour, maize meal and other milled products (National Foods), poultry and meat (Irvine's and Colcom), beverages, and household products, giving it a broad, vertically integrated food business.

Market position

Innscor is one of Zimbabwe's largest food manufacturers and one of the biggest companies listed on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange.

Country impact

Because its products are staples, Innscor's pricing and supply directly affect household food security, and its investment in local manufacturing has helped reduce Zimbabwe's dependence on imported food during periods of currency shortage.
