DAL Group
Stock performance
History
DAL Group was founded in 1951 by Daoud Abdellatif as a trading business and was built by his son Osama Daoud Abdellatif into Sudan's largest private conglomerate. It survived decades of sanctions, political upheaval, and economic crises in Sudan, but the war that began in April 2023 caused heavy damage to its factories and operations in Khartoum.
Business model
DAL operates across food and beverages (including flour milling, dairy, and Coca-Cola bottling), engineering and heavy-equipment distribution, agriculture, automotive, and other sectors, generating revenue mainly from Sudan's domestic market.
Market position
DAL is the largest private company in Sudan and a leading producer of staple foods such as flour.
Country impact
As one of Sudan's biggest private employers and a key supplier of basic foods, DAL has been central to the country's private sector, and the destruction of its Khartoum facilities in the war is a stark illustration of how the conflict has devastated Sudan's industrial base.
