Stock performance
History
Coris Bank International was founded in 2008 by Burkinabè businessman Idrissa Nassa, building on an earlier financial company he had created. It grew rapidly to become Burkina Faso's leading bank and expanded into other West African countries, and its shares trade on the regional stock exchange (BRVM) in Abidjan.
Business model
Coris Bank focuses on financing small and medium-sized businesses, traders, and individuals, alongside corporate and public-sector banking, and has subsidiaries in countries such as Côte d'Ivoire, Mali, Togo, Senegal, and Benin.
Market position
Coris Bank International is the largest bank in Burkina Faso by branch network and one of the leading homegrown banking groups in French-speaking West Africa.
Country impact
Coris is a rare example of a fast-growing, locally founded financial institution in the Sahel, and its lending to small businesses and traders makes it an important part of Burkina Faso's private-sector economy.
