History
Balfin Group (Balkan Finance Investment Group) was founded in 1993 by Albanian entrepreneur Samir Mane, beginning with trading activities in the early years of Albania's market economy. It grew into the country's largest private investment group, with operations spanning Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, and other countries in the region.
Business model
Balfin is active in real estate and shopping centers, retail (electronics, groceries, and household goods), banking and asset management, tourism, education, logistics, and mining, combining development projects with consumer-facing retail chains.
Market position
Balfin is one of the largest private employers and investors in Albania and one of the largest privately held groups in the Western Balkans.
Country impact
Balfin's malls, retail chains, and real-estate developments have reshaped Tirana's commercial landscape, and the group's growth reflects the rise of a domestic business class in post-communist Albania.
